Fly through the airport this holiday season

O. R. Tambo International Airport anticipates that more than 3.6-million passengers will fly in and out during December and January. The Friday before Christmas and the first Friday in January are expected to have high passenger volumes.

The airport recommends that travellers take some simple but important steps to ensure that their trip gets off to the best possible start.

  • *Get to the airport and check-in early. High numbers of passengers mean there will be queues at peak times of the day.
  • *If it’s been a while since you were at the airport, remember that counters and other facilities may have moved. Give yourself time to make sure you can check-in and relax.
  • *Follow your airline’s rules about not putting any valuables such as electronics, jewellery and expensive perfume in your checked-in bags.
  • *Consider using plastic wrapping or purchasing a baggage sleeve for your bags.

The airport now has digital touch-screen information devices at strategic points in the terminal buildings. Your clients can now find their way around with access to comprehensive information about airport facilities as well as flight information at the touch of a button.

    Special parking offer

For those who are going away for more than seven days, the airport is running a special offer of R500 for seven to 14 days, with parking free for stays of 15 days or longer, excluding the Piazza pick-up and Premium parking areas.
