Southern Sunny Summer Thailand

Southern Thailand is a southernmost cultural region of Thailand. An especially popular region because it has such a diverse range of attractions to offer visitors. Admire the view from stunning bays, discover island getaways or explore beautiful national parks; this part of the world has something for everyone.

Andaman Sea

Andaman Sea is the marginal sea of the north eastern Indian Ocean. It is bounded to the north by the Irrawaddy River delta of Myanmar (Burma). Bound to the east by peninsular Myanmar, Thailand, and Malaysia. Bound to the south by the Indonesian island of Sumatra and by the Strait of Malacca. And bound to the west by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which constitutes a union territory of India.

Types of seasons:
November – March- Dry Season
April – June- Hot Season
July – October-Green Season

Places to see:

Phuket is among the world’s finest beach destinations. With fine white sands, nodding palm trees, glittering seas and lively towns. It has something for any taste and budget. It has hundreds of hotels to choose from and a wide choice of dining and partying options. Aside from visiting the fantastic attractions of Thailand’s biggest island, you can take an exhilarating speedboat trip to the many nearby tropical paradises, including the famous Phi Phi Islands, or enjoy a serene cruise around the mystical Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is blessed with more than 30 amazing beaches. Patong Beach, Kata, Karon and Kamala have always been the most popular, but the north of the island reveals some hidden gems for travellers searching for a more romantic atmosphere.

Khao Lak, a one-hour drive north of Phuket, has one major resource to fall back on; an asset so in demand that it is worth its weight in gold – its beautiful natural and unspoiled beaches. Mile after mile of glorious golden stress-free strand awaits the visitor with views out over the turquoise Andaman that no artist’s brush could better.  Khoa Lak doesn’t ‘do’ crowds; it’s not a mega-shopping destination and the fleshpots of Patong, Patpong and Pattaya seem so far away that they could be on another planet.

An exquisite coastline, idyllic islands and tropical jungle are just a few of the natural splendours of this Southern Thai province. Throw away your watch and bask in nature’s beauty. Cruise around the Andaman by speedboat or yacht, or even by canoe, and discover the region’s white-sand beaches, soaring cliffs and colourful marine life. Snorkel , dive,  or canoe in balmy waters teeming with tropical fish and other sea creatures of exotic beauty. Venture inland and trek to the sounds of screeching birds and hooting gibbons. Or scale the heights of Krabi’s renowned limestone mountains on a rock climbing adventure tour. Afterwards, wind down with a poolside sunset cocktail at your resort or enjoy a soothing spa session in luxurious surroundings.

With their curvy, bleached beaches and stunning jungle interiors, Phi-Phi Don and Phi-Phi Leh – collectively known as Ko Phi-Phi – are the darlings of the Andaman Coast. Phi-Phi Don is a hedonistic paradise where visitors cavort by day in azure seas and party all night on soft sand. In contrast, smaller Ko Phi-Phi Leh is undeveloped and hotel-free, its coral reefs and crystal-clear waters overseen by soaring, jagged cliffs, and visited only on day or sunset cruises.

Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are a pair of large islands in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. It is equidistant to Phuket and the Krabi mainland. While the pace of development is accelerating on Koh Yao Noi in particular, the islands remains a quiet refuge that feels far removed from the crowds of Phuket. In 2002, Koh Yao Noi gained worldwide attention after receiving the World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship from Conservation International and National Geographic Traveler magazine for the eco-friendly homestay programs offered by its local residents. Other activities available on the island include agricultural demonstrations (rubber and fishing), kayaking, hiking, snorkelling and swimming.

Gulf of Thailand

Also known as the Gulf of Siam, this a shallow inlet in the western part of the South China Sea, a marginal body of water in the western Pacific Ocean.

Types of seasons:
December – February- Dry Season
March – August- Hot Season
September – December – Green Season

Koh Samui (Samui Island) is a cosmopolitan melting pot, attracting budget travellers staying for a month or two in simple beachside bungalows, to the wealthiest holidaymakers dropping in for a weekend at one of the many luxury resort or villa on the many white sand beaches of Koh Samui.

Every month on the full moon, thousands of people take part in the Full Moon Party’s all-night festivities. this includes music on the beach. By day, you’ll find a lovely island with coconut trees and plenty of sandy white beaches. If you’re a diver, visit Sailrock for a spectacular wall dive.

The baby of the Samui–Pha-Ngan–Tao trio, Ko Tao may still be the smallest in size but in many other ways it’s all grown up. The island is consistently gaining in popularity and going more upscale, but for now this jungle-topped cutie has the busy vibe of Samui mixed with the laid-back nature of Pha-Ngan.
